What labwork should you have done for each anticonvulsant?
I know for Trileptal you should check liver and sodium (not too low) and general levels of oxcarbmazepine.
Lamictal doesn't ask for routine blood work, but what should you be aware of?
Depakote ER demands liver testing and blood plasma levels of divalproex.

Lamictal's main concern would be "the rash" and SJS.If you're seriously liver compromised it may stay in the body longer, but otherwise not particularly an issue. It does interact with Depakote and doses need to be adjusted accordingly. It also binds to melanin and it is unclear in long term use what this does to the eye although no conclusions have been discovered. According to the PI the usefulness of monitoring actual Lamictal levels isn't clearly useful one way or the other. Blurred vision and dizziness are possibilities but one can read everything from the PI so I wouldn't place value on them unless you are experiencing it.
