Generic Effexor

Posted by vines123456 on September 14, 2006, at 13:09:42

Can anyone tell me if the generic Effexor is as effective as the real Effexor. My doctor recently increased my dose from 150 mg to 300 mg and when it was filled I received the generic tablets. Sherri

Are you talking about samples? Because theres no such thing as generic effexor untill next year i dont think. I remember getting some samples that said "generic for effexor" maybe 6 months ago but they were the exact same thing as normal effexor.

As i've just begun effexor xr, yes, in the US, there is now available generic (zoloft too!). Keep in mind that it's not extended release, so you'd be dividing doses.

Sorry I have not responded earlier. I do have to split my dose. I take 150 mg in the morning and 150 mg in the afternoon. The doctor increased the dose because I was not responding well to 150 mg. Now that I take the higher dose I feel as if I can get a grip on things. Can anyone tell me if what the difference is between the generic Effexor and the brand name?
