There's some evidence that links chronic, early depression the hippocampus having growth impairment. This makes me a little sad. I was a preemie and wonder if this is a possible problem. Hm... I don't understand what the treatment would be, whether or not meds will work. I do however respond to certain drugs, so it's not like I'm not reacting at all. I just haven't found one with tolerable side effects and appropriate efficacy.

Keep trying Jellibean...it took me years to find the right recipe for my anxiety...my anxiety too caused depression. Behavior modification is definitely key, you must be positive within your inner dialogue and must train yourself to be so. In combination with medications I have programmed myself to be positive and am finally happy. This is success to me... I have experimented with Wellbutrin, Zoloft, Buspar, Neurontin...I am currently on 225mg of Effexor which focuses on seretonine and norepinephrine levels. But, our bodies and chemical concentration levels within them vary and there is really no economical way to figure out many of those concentrations in the body... so until there are more feasible options, one must experiment until they find the right combinations of treatment/therapy. Don't give up! You can do it!

Thanks... I suppose it's not accurate to automatically assume altering chemicals won't help and can help me. Effexor made some differenece, just not the feeling I was going for, Xanax helps, coffee (an MAOI!) helps, nicotine does too, I believe those studies! (but I don't smoke right now and don't think people should use it... just noting that it makes a difference. That's why people abuse street drugs! Not the kind I'm looking for though. I'm also doing CBT tapes and that helps.
