Any one knows what is going on with your brain/neurotransmitters when you have a manic or hypomanic episode?
Is it a dopamine or glutamine thing (?) or what , just curious if anyone knows about that..
Also, anyone know what would happen if you were naturally had too much serotonin in comparison to the other neurotransmitters? What are the most liekly drugs to trigger mania in someone succeptable to that?
Thanks for info

No one knows the exact mechanism, but antipsychotics often targets dopamine receptors.

Tensor so does that mean that mania is over stimulation of dopamine? If so why do they use wellbutrin a lot for mania bipolar? Love Phillipa

I'm not suffering from psychosis so I have little knowledge about APs. But the D2 receptor is often targeted to reduce dopamine in certain areas of the brain. This is highly hypothetic and Scott and other knowledgable people could answer this much better.

Wellbutin isn't an AP it's used in combo with a lot of meds for energy and wt loss and sex and it's also a form of an ad. Maybe I misunderstood you? Love Phillipa
