I am going to switch from Cymbalta to Remeron because Cymbalta has seemed to increase my anxiety and make me more depressed.
I am concern about gaining a lot of weight on Remeron, however, getting well is my priority. Is there something, other than Wellbutrin, I could ask my pdoc to prescribe along with Remeron to help counter the weight gain?

There's little you can do to prevent Remeron induced weight gain since much of it seems to be due to fluid retention. I wonder if a herbal diuretic preparation would help - one aimed at reducing premenstrual fluid retention perhaps?
Many people also get the munchies on Remeron and have cravings for high carb/fatty foods like chocolate and ice-cream. There's not much you could do about this other than practice self-discipline, exercise and perhaps asking the pdoc to add a morning stimulant such as Adderall to the Remeron.
Good luck.

When I was on remeron for a number of years I tried both Dexedrine & Adderall to curb appetite increase. they did help, but Remeron also altered my metabolism so I believe some weight gain is unavoidable. Hopefully like me you won't be too distressed by it, and the positive benefits will outweight the side effects.
Taking some amino acid and mineral supplements will definitely help with the carb and sugar cravings. L-glutamine (fights carb cravings) and chromium (fights sugar cravings) helped me a ton. Regular exercise, too.
Good luck!

Topomax is supposed to help reduce weight gain, and can boost anti-depressant response. I've also read that starting at a higher dose can help avoid weight gain -- apparently weight gain is worse at the lower doses, and tapers off at higher doses.
Good luck with it.
