Actually it was blueberry who put me onto Adrafinil (note spelling). Here is a link:
http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/20061123/msgs/706994.html
I have zero experience with it so cannot comment.
You will find all the info you need if you insert Adrafinil in your search engine.
Here is one for starters:
http://www.erowid.org/smarts/adrafinil/adrafinil_info1.shtml
Blueberry has used it for a number of years and will be able to give you all the info.

This is very cheap stuff.
Delivered to your door it works out at about $1 per 300mg tablet. Dose is about 2 to 4 tabs a day. If you take it for more than about 5 months they say you should get your liver enzymes checked. It might be an idea to get your liver checked to start off with so that you get a good baseline.
The liver enzymes are SGOT, SGPT, GGPT and hepatic alkaline phosphatase.
I wish I could help you further with your questions but I am still a Babbler novice and don't understand all the organic chemistry stuff.

Hi Monte
I believe the recommended dose is 2 to 4 x 300mg tablets per day. Bear in mind this medication was designed, according to some of the literature, for the elderly who suffer from narcolepsy. I would suggest 2 tablets to start off with taken say 8 am and 2 pm. This is a tablet that keeps you awake so you don't want to take it later than 2 pm but then I don't really know I'm just guessing really. If I remember correctly it has a half life of one hour and takes about 3 weeks to build up.
Blueberry said he/she took it at one tablet per day for a couple of years. Check this out in the avolition anhedonia thread above.

Monte,
I will be very interested to see how you get on with the Adrafinil. I will be going on it at the end of January after I have managed to kick this Olanzapain habit I've got. I think you will see the full benefit of it after about 3 weeks - that's what blueberry experienced.

I took Adrafinil for about 6 months, maybe, and still have a heap out the back. Eventually it felt as if it wasn't very nice, and that all the stuff about 'eugregorics' didn't apply to me. It certainly did something though. I ended up with what are described as 'states of inner tension'.

> ...ronaldoHey renaldo, have you ever tryed Lyrica? It's a wonderful drug (classified as an anti-epileptic) but has many off label uses including depression and anxiety. I take 300mgs b.i.d., and without it i know i would be bedridden. If you suffer from depression/anxiety look into it. It actually is very activating, but the dose has to be 600 mgs a day. And it takes about 2-3 weeks of tapering to get the full effect. Low dose Lyrica actually is sedating, when you get to 400-600 mgs. it kicks in and is quite stimulating.

Monte I'm only on 75mg Lyrica. When I first took it, the first few days, I felt good, better! Then nothing. Maybe it is responsible for this fatigue. Maybe I should make a call and increase it. You can take it during the day? Wow. I thought it was just to be taken at bedtime. Think I need to make this move?

>Hey Monte,
I have been on Lyrica for just shy of a year and what I have found is that after a while at the same dose I just go flat. Just blah feeling.Through trial and error I have figured out that Lyrica (at least for me) after a time at the same dosage requires an increase. It acts as though your blood levels are falling and it is as if you are in a constant state of mild withdrawal from the drug.
I have not wanted to increase so I have backed off the dosage when this has happened for just a couple of days or so by taking less more often then I go back up. I do best with this drug taking smaller amounts every 4-5 hrs with bedtime being the largest dose of the day.
Just a thought,
Peace,
Kaye

Kaye .. an interesting and inventive way to handle this.
What is your highest dosage of Lyrica (when you go high w/ it)?
Do you take the highest amount at bedtime (when you go high w/ it)?

I tried adrafinil a while ago along with some other nootropics and felt no effect. I was taking a hefty dose of clonazepam at the time though so perhaps that was masking the stimulant effect?

I'm wondering if my Valium dosage total 25mg a day masked the effect of Provigil too.

I take 1 mg. of Klonopin b.i.d. myself. Lyrica also helps with reducing anxiety, so i can stay at my fairly low benzo dose.

I had a nasty experience with Hydergine and Adrafinil. It was a difficult business thing and the combo was quite unhelpful when I really needed something. I had trouble speaking. Not terror, I just felt really strange and inarticulate.
How much Adrafinil did you take, Quintal? I took from 1 to 6 tabs a day, but mostly 2.

I can't remember how much I took exactly. Probably much more than recommended knowing me. I was taking it in combo with piracetam and vinpocetine.
>I had trouble speaking. Not terror, I just felt really strange and inarticulate.
I had this problem with olanzapine and lamotrigine. It seemed to take me a few seconds to understand what was being said to me and think of the words to respond properly. Also had difficulty reading.
