I tried amisulpride a while ago McAnxious. I felt much more motivated and my social anxiety faded away. It caused insomnia though, which made me irritable after a few days. I would have a sedative at hand in case you need it.

Haven't taken it longer than two months and I can't remember why now. I found an old packet of Solian a while ago during an episode of depression and it was wonderful. I may go and ask my GP for some more..........

Good luck.

I added 50mg amisulpride to ongoing 20mg prozac many years ago. It definitely improved mood and motivation and social comfort. Side effects were insomnia and sexual. The sexual dysfunction was bad enough that I quit it after a few months, so I don't know about longterm.

I tried it again in 2005 at 25mg added to 20mg prozac and 5mg zyprexa. I only took it for a week because the sexual dysfunction was already evident. During that week I did not experience much mood boost, but I did experience a boost of motivation and the ability to zero in on whatever I was doing. I'm sure 25mg was not enough, and mixed with the other meds it was kind of in the background.

Anyway, it worked good for me. Insomnia and sexual dysfunction were my side effects.

Hi
In the short term it's really good for those conditions you mention. Almost immediate effect.
I guess for it's primary intended use ( schizophrenia) it's good in the long term. But for benign( relatively speaking) conditions, most people won't accept the benefit/side effect trade off, notably prolactin elevation, ( think of impotent, big breasted males, and you'll get the idea)
But try it out, if only once, it's really nice.

I wonder what could be taken to counteract the increased prolactin, without affecting the efficacy of amisulpride? Ive tried several dopamine agonists before because they lower prolactin but they also brought on deep depression. And wonder what else besides dopamine agonists can lower prolactin and go nice with amisulpride???

Bromocriptine is a good prolactin antagonist. It is also a dopamine agonist. Which dopamine agonists did you try blueberry?

Here is a link on the role of prolactin and prolactin antagonsits in mental illness and sex drive: http://www.asiatour.com/prolactin.htm

All the prolactin atagonists also seem to be dopamine agonists to some extent.

I'm not sure if amisulpride is available here, but I know sulpride is. Would like to hear what you think about it. Is it useful for treating depression?

Thanks,
Mattias

Hi,
Don't really know, my cautious nature would prevent me from mixing these types of drugs. I guess the high prolactin could be dealt with after stopping amisulpride as it would subside anyhow on discontinuation, but maybe even faster with something like the very expensive Dostinex.( Cabergoline)
