Dual Diagnosis and Meds?

Posted by leo33 on January 18, 2007, at 13:08:08

Has anyone had a problem with taking meds after receiving dual diagnosis? I always seem to have a problem taking meds since I received addiction training and now often think of meds as just another addiction. My drug of choice use to be marijuana.

What do other people think, just curious.

I take klonopin as needed and have not abused but my depression and anxiety are very active.

As long as you don't abuse them you will be fine as you need something for anxiety now right? Good luck. Love Phillipa

Well I've had just about every diagnosis under the sun, but found zyprexa to be the most effective med I ever took. It pulled me out of psychosis very quickly.

I thought the very same thing when they were telling me I had to take the meds. "This must be a replacement for illegal drugs, they both mess with your head. I was a heavy smoker before taking meds, I was probably self medicating after seeing my freind on fire. Then I quit smoking and within a year I was psychotic, and on psychotropics.
