I tried selegiline 5mg for three days and my OCD got much worse (it did with Remeron as well).
Has anyone had any success taking MAOIs for OCD? If so, which ones, and what other meds were/are you taking with it?
Thanks in advance for any info.

Yes, MAOIs can be quite effective for OCD, but from what I understand, benzos are generally the most effective treatment. You should try them before starting an MAOI.

Tried Anafranil for at least six months; it not only didn't help my OCD, but made my depression worse. Also tried Luvox, but it gave me diarrhea (as did Inositol); that wouldn't be so bad, but I have ulcerative colitis, and have been hospitalized 9 times for flare-ups, which can last for months (I know it was the Luvox that caused the diarrhea, because I wasn't eating anything different, and hadn't had a flare-up in over four months, which is a long time for me).
I've been on psych meds for over 16 years (for depression, OCD, and acute social anxiety) and have been on social security disability for over 10 years. The only meds that stopped the depression were the combo of Wellbutrin and Remeron, but that made the OCD *much* worse. Adding Adderall to that combo neutralized the OCD, but made me so lethargic that I spent most of the time in bed.
Have also taken Prozac, Paxil, Paxil CR, Cymbalta, Klonopin, Metadate CD, and others whose names I can't recall (mental illness and/or all the meds have played havoc with my memory).

I'm on Klonopin, which can help me get to sleep, but on my worst OCD days, does nothing for it. Was on another anti-anxiety med before that, but can't recall it's name (my memory is shot).

Geez that's a shame about the luvox. I do know what ulcerative colitis is too. Love Phillipa

Sounds like you're having some paradoxil type effects to meds. I would suggest trying to start fresh.... How you would do that I'm not sure. Sometimes it gets hard to tell what's doing what... I've never heard of adderall helping for OCD. I took it for 3 years for depression issues and it made my OCD worse.

I have relatively severe OCD. The type that significantly intrudes on most of my daily activities. I have been on Nardil long-term, and it was helpful with depression, but not at all for OCD.
In fact, I've been in treatment for both OCD and bipolar for quite some time, and no one has ever mentioned an MAOI in the context of treating OCD. I'm currently on Emsam 9mg, but that's to help out with the down side of the BPD, not for the OCD.
I would highly recommend CBT for OCD. It's the only thing that has helped and, frankly, having been on every med that's used for OCD, my view is that none of them are very effective. Certainly, you can pump yourself up with a ton of benzos, but that's not treating the problem itself. CBT is a lot of work, but it's far more effective than meds for OCD, in my opinion.
If you do try CBT, make sure that you go to an OCD specialist.
