Saw my pdoc on Monday and he wanted to put me on Geondon instead of Abilify. He apparently has had much more success with it in treating difficult cases. He started me out on 80mg for 3 days - then I up it to 160mg. So far no real side effects I can feel. The first day I took it it knocked me out ofr 8 hours. Now it seems to be keeping me awake. Maybe it's just me and not the Geodon.
He says it hits many more receptors/sub receptors than Abilify. However, if I cannot tolerate this he'd most likely try me on Abilify. Luckily Geodon is covvered by PPA so I don't have to pay for it.
I've been talking with my therapist a lot about my family and how they are in complete denial of my depression. It makes me so angry and sad at the same time. And lonely.
I wish I had people to talk to who understood.
thanks
Jerry

Jerry well I understand the family aspects as my kids want nothing to do with a less than perfect Mom. And I send best wishes on your success with geodon. Love Phillipa

Jerry: Im glad you are talking openly with yout therapist and being honest how you feel. Thats the way to the road of recovery.
Please continue to post. Do you have AIM? If so, I would love to talk to you on it. We're always here for you. As you saw before, a lot ppl in here care about you and want to help.
One day, when you are feeling better, you will look back at all of this as the biggest growth experience of your life. And you will be able to help others by sharing in your recovery. You will make a difference in many lives, as you have so far.
Prayers, Michael

Glad to hear you're on Geodon, Jerry. I'm sure if you give it time, you'll figure out if it's right for you.
I take Abilify, and find it extremely helpful, even in smaller doses. I do use it in addition to Emsam, but I feel a distinct positive effect on my overall anxiety and vigilance level, and my desire for social contact. It''s definitely something you can keep on the back burner.
It's also good that your T knows more about the loneliness and feelings of isolation, especially with your family and their denial of how much you're suffering. Talking to someone about it is an important first step-- just establishing the trust to do it.
Maybe, as things evolve, you'll be able to go out and be around people, or do some social activities. I'm also rather isolated, but find that I feel much more capable of thinking about doing that, too, now.
And, maybe the energy from Geodon (if that's causing it) would actually good for you.
