I reluctantly started wellbutrin sr hoping it would be an activating med. I say reluctantly becuase I have an extreme problem with anxiety. That is why I chose sr vs xl. Instead of the usual anxiety and energy people report I am experiencing sedation and fogginess. At two weeks I'm almost feeling it's making depression worse. I know 2 weeks is hardly an adiquate trial but I'm wondering if anyone else has had similar reactions to wellbutrin sr only to find that it ended up being and activating and helpful drug eventually.

I guess we're all different did you ask your doc why the med could be doing the opposite for you? Maybe give it more time? Love Phillipa

What dose are you taking? And I'm afraid I don't understand why you chose SR rather than XL?
As for me, Wellbutrin in my very good friend, so I have a strong bias in its favor. It was never particularly sedating for me, as I recall, but it did kick in at 300mg. That was as an augmentation with Cymbalta, which did sedate me. It didn't increase my anxiety, but it did brighten my mood pretty quickly -- I knew within about three weeks it was helping.
I hope knowing that it can be taken by someone with an axiety order without trouble helps. I'd say give it another two weeks, and see if it's kicked in. If not, I guess that means another ride on the Medication Go Round. I'm sorry if that happens.
Good luck.
