adderall withdrawl

Posted by hejira on June 2, 2007, at 12:52:48

I was taking pemoline 110mg per day for 6 years, until it was recalled from the market. I saw a psychiatrist who was very cautious about prescribing an alternative, but agreed to put me on Adderall 10mg per day, I went through hell, and he refused to up the dose and also put me on paxil and Lamictol. I then went to an internal medicine doctor who gave me 20mg 2x per day, so I was taking 30mg total, until word somehow got out and my medical information was passed back and forth and now both MD"s are refussing to refil the Adderall, Lamictol and Paxil. Besides being extremley embarassed and afraid this could lead to criminal charges, I am unable to move, I am totally lethargic, sleeping for three days through only getting up to take care of nourishment and such. I am shaking, with major panic attacks and unable to function in the work place fired after 17 years of employment.
Does anyone have some advice? Please Help me!
Peace and out.

How horrible. Don't the docs know about withdrawal if you've been on a med for so long? What did they say about withdrawal. Oh and have you posted on withdrawal board? Seems more action here lately. I'm sure someone with adderall experience will be able to answer your question. Love Phillipa

Thanks Phillipa I appreciate the concern and advice. The docs are really not concerned with any withdrawl because the way they see it I am just a drug seeker.
Take care

Why do they call you a drug seeker did you prescribe for yourself the initital dose? Love Phillipa

Did you say you were taking 30 mg a day?

Start taking 1,000 mg tyrosine a 2-3x day on an empty stomach 500 mg Nac 2x a day and get yourself some 5HTP and try it for anxiety as needed. I would try 50mg at first then go up if needed. This stuff will truly help you.

Caffiene pills/red bulls help in the morning. If you afford it the EMSAM patches might save the day. You shouldn't have any trouble getting it prescribed as it is an anti-depressant.

I have been on stims for 12 years straight and EMSAM has made it possible for me to go without. I normally would be just like you without my stims.

I feel for you-I have been there.

Peace,
Kaye
