i am having good luck with the emsam patch but a very bad time with cigarettes.
i see my pdoc tomorrow. Has anybody used emsam (selegiline an MAOI) with wellbutrin? When I was on Wellbutrin i quit smoking and had no trouble staying away from the butts. Now I'm totally addicted and totally bummed about it.

Have you rried a nictoine gum maybe that is okay don't know about wellbutrin. Love Phillipa

According to Emsam package insert, Bupropion is contraindicated with Emsam. Although many other meds have been given with Emsam, only your pdoc, or those very skilled with knowing exceptions to the rule, will make any exceptions to those listed as contrindications.
Most pdocs, mine included, won't unless I show him data on it, unless they have studied the interactions like UGotta's pdoc who was one of the founding researchers of Emsam and knows what exceptions are allowed. Most pdocs will heed the warning of the package insert to be safe and liability free. YOu can't blame them with the severe side effects of medication combinations.

Ooh I know, I know. I was hoping someone who had taken Wellburtin with Ensam would write in and that I could use that info with my pdoc.

I find that I have to keep taking the wellbutrin to stay smoke free. Never heard of Emsam for smoking?
