Has Parnate been reformulated by its manufacturer?

Posted by girlnterrupted78 on July 24, 2007, at 23:15:47

Does anybody know if Parnate was also altered by the company that manufactures it, just the way Nardil was?

I haven't read anything that indicates it was, so I'm wondering whether it is a better choice than Nardil?

How did people find out that Nardil had been altered by Pfizer? Is there any link out there that talks about these changes?

Thanks in advance

Hello,

there is a comment on

http://www.revolutionhealth.com/drugs-treatments/parnate?q=Parnate (the former remedyfind)

indicating that Parnate has been changed:

Quote:
"worked great until the FDA mandated gluten be
taken out of all medications because some people are allergic to. this happened in 03 just like
what happened to nardil and now parnate no longer
is effective either."

I hope someone with pharmacological knowledge will comment on this.

Question: Aren't there several manufacturers of Parnate? (Mine are from "Goldshield".)

Best,
Robert

Hello,

some sources of information.

The reformulation of Parnate in 2003 is announced here (no details are given):

http://www.pharmacygateway.ca/pdfs/2003/11/11_PPR_19_21.pdf

An old reformulation is described in this paper:
Malen DG. Parnate formulation change. J Clin Psychiatry. 1992;53:328-329

A rationale that a change took place is here:

Search google with:

parnate "reformulation change"

to get information from anxietyhelp.org

Robert
