Is this a weird reaction to an increase in Geodon? I went from 80mg to 120mg for a DAY and I am so anxious I can't think straight. I've been shaking and sweating. This is really, really bad as I leave for vacation Friday with my hubbie and I cannot be like this.
I know Geodon has a short half-life - if I skip my dose tonight and go back to my old dose tomorrow will I be O.K. by Friday? Does this mean that even the old dose could actually be causing some of the anxiety I am so desparately trying to allieve?
Thanks.

It could be akathisia, a sense of inner restleessness. Dose reduction might fix that. Even w/o akathisia, antipsychotics can raise your overall level of tension and anxiety...if you're using the Geodon as a treatment for anxiety, you might want to try something else, or maybe a new doctor.

Hi Falstaff. I don't know anything about Geodon, sorry. I just wanted to say how much I love your name!
Take care,

Falstaff, I agree that lowering the dose might be a good idea. Please call your pdoc too and tell him/her what your side effects are. I believe Geodon is fairly short acting.
I am presently on 20mg of geodon, which works great for me but I cannot go any higher without problems. But as soon as I go down the side effects disappear. (same as yours). So I take other meds in low doses to try and get the best results without the side effects.
Think positive thoughts, you will have a wonderful vacation with your hubbie! And your restlessnes

Hi Falstaff,
I had some problems when I started Geodon. Luckily, I was in the hospital, so we could switch the doses pretty quickly. I had akathisia, too, but the funny thing is that the dr mentioned that akathisia was more common at lower doses. Unfortunately, I had problems at higher doses, too. I had akathisia at one end and really bad orthostatic hypotension at the other. Are you possibly taking an antidepressant at the same time? Once, after I came off a combo of Zoloft and Abilify and seemed much more calm, my dr speculated that the combo might have put me into "serotonergic overdrive." For me, Haldol and a benzo helped calm my agitation. Hope you feel better!

Oops, didn't finish my post! My last sentence should have read: "And your restlessness will diminish."
