Fast acting Mood stablizers, antimanic's?

Posted by your#1fan on November 4, 2007, at 0:38:12

respirdal?

Im already on pretty good dosage of Xanax. But, i've realized its more nuero, than nerve.

My doctor will not prescibe hard antipsychotics, because i dont need them, im sane you guys! i just have "small" but big when they happen. And i dont need a antipsychotic that lasts 15 hours to just take care of something that just lasts for a couple of min, but that couple of min can lead to bad things....i cant tell you what it is. Its just confidencial, and im not trying to play around, its serious.

I go the whole day fine, its just, maybe i need to talk to a hard core psychologist.

Thats it....

but dont ever think of me diffrent.

Im always eating french fries, and hot dogs when i read your posts, because im YOUR#1FAN!! yea!

alright......just need to get a little stable thats it.

Actually, I think you probably do need a medication that works all day long, even if your "little episodes" are short-lived. I think you'd do best if you had something in your that could calm all this down, and keep you in a normal range.

That said, I also think that a talk therapist would do you a great deal of good. Some of what you go through is behavioral, and that's where a therapist can help you. The behavioral portion is something you choose to do, and you can learn to consider the consequences before making a choice whether or not to engage in those behaviors.

As for the doctor, while I think a second opinion is in your very best interest, I also think it would be a good idea for you to print out many of your posts here to show your doctor -- probably both the current doctor and the second opinion doctor. I think you go through something I go through -- my state in the doctor's office is often quite different from my state at home, and the nature of affective memory is that we can't really remember how we felt at other times. I can't remember what depression feels like when I'm not depressed, and I can't remember right now what it felt like to want to go on living. That's something that printing out posts or keeping a journal can help with.

If you print out posts, though, you might want to copy and paste into a document to print, rather than having thirty pages to hand over.

I hope you take in the advice I've given you here. I further hope that you will actually act on some of it. You'll forgive me if I'm skeptical.

Good luck, whatever you choose to do.

Agree with Racer time to get a second opinion. And a longer acting med if that is what your doc suggests. Phillipa

well, hey, racer. I've been through alot of opionion's first, it was thought it was just pure ADHD, then i started having these anxiety conditions, and i think, then my moods started moviing.

I mean to tell you, its not a "big" situation, its not like i have to immidately go somewhere, its under some control, so please dont think its a major, i was fine today. Didnt have an episode. Thats good!

Seeing someone and talking, like this, but more indpeth would be more helpful to me and the psycholosist because they would understnand and could talk with my pdoc, about meds.

The meds that i am on right now, i've been through alot. But......its no stopping here.

I hate saying i take "Lithium" but, ill just say i dont take any thing.

Thanks for advice.

;)
