This really sucks my insurance doesnt cover Duplin

Posted by your#1fan on November 24, 2007, at 20:09:56

First all i have talked with my doctor about dopamine agoints for ADHD, and depression, but he refuses, its too complicated to go down that road.

Adderall and Dexedrine both provided me with good focus, but i know now that its not good for me. Because i would be motivated to do things that i wasnt before.

Please Duplin! how much is about 30 7.5mg of it? in the US?

This may help some......

You know i have thought about stimulants over and over, they work "great" for some depression, but i know when they work on me, they motivate me to do things that are not good. Thats why i say a no them.

options? by the way i've already tried stattera up to 40mg. I had the worst reaction with it and Prozac. Its documented not to take it with Prozac...guess my doctor read his literature.

Thanks for anything

Here's an idea -- check the pharmacy websites. Walgreen's website has price checks, and I'm sure most others do, too. You can ask us, or you could find out pretty easily from the source.

And yet, somehow, the idea of trying Strattera with, say, Zoloft never came up? Did you consider taking in an article showing that Strattera and Prozac are contraindicated, but Strattera and Zoloft are not, maybe you could try again. Strattera is a good drug, and it just might help you.

From what I've read of your posting here, I think that some behavioral interventions would help you a lot. There are a lot of great medications out there, some of which would no doubt be more helpful for you than Prozac is right now. I think it would have made sense for you to try lithium, if that's what your doctor was thinking a while back.

It's hard to tell from your posts -- for me, at least -- which of your questions are about medications your doctor is suggesting, and which you're thinking about yourself. I know I've asked about this in the past, but I don't remember you ever answering those questions?

In this case, Deplin -- and it helps to spell it correctly when you look it up at the pharmacy website -- is a nutritional medication. It's a more easily metabolized form of folic acid -- L-methylfolate. It's being sold as an adjunctive agent to antidepressants, so if you're still experiencing residual symptoms of depression, it might be helpful for you. I don't believe I've seen you complaining about residual symptoms, though, in your recent posts. Forgive me if I missed something here.

Good luck to you.

Whoops. I checked and...

I just checked a few pharmacy websites -- Walgreens, CVS, and Costco -- and none of them listed Deplin. I'm sorry I didn't check that first.

OK, price quote from Deplin.com » your#1fan

According to the price quote from Deplin.com, 30 tablets is $46.99, 90 is $130.01.

Did you check the Deplin site? They have a lot of information about what it is, and that might show you more about whether or not it might be helpful for you.

Good luck.

thanks racer... umm actaully i was on zoloft in 2003 for 4 months.....back then i didnt know any diffrence i was on 100mg.

Prozac has just helped with some things like its stimulating through the day. Not like wellbutrin but it, its an AD that i would prefer taking over strattera.

Thats why im looking for other options, like meds to use. Already checked dopamine agoists....my doctor thinks its too complicated. I dont.

Well thats it.

Thanks for post....im looking, but you know having ADHD isnt the worst thing in the world, losing keys, forgetting where you parked at school!, umm absent mindes alot of times...im just not on the same page....as everyone else. I like structuredness, collage isnt. Thats why im having one good heck of a time keepin' up! ugh...

Thanks, i have been going to a sanctuary and telling him all my problems because there is no one that can help me with them.

Wish me luck

Deplin is supposed to help an ad work better. So not many docs know of it or pharmacies have it. I wonder why? Phillipa

CVS just filled an order for me but my insurance only paid $40. I believe the pharmacist said the cost was around $65 or $70 for 30 days supply.
Also Walgreen had it on their drug list here in CT. So it's getting out there on the pharmacy formularies.

"ValueCard RX Program"

Some sort of discount, Costco, CVS pharmacies in your metro area. Remember, it is a medical food so its regulated but luck with medical foods vary wildly.
