I'm not exactly a Zyprexa expert, but 40mg sounds a bit steep, especially in the long term.

I would be worried about getting diabetes at that dosage. Even 30 is a very high dose.

Hearing about taking Zyprexa past 20mg is a bit scary to me.
I really would be concerned about my kindneys at that dose. I heard somewhere someone took, or someone knew someone took over 80mg of Zyprexa. That is incrediable.
I dont suggest it. But thats up to your doctor.

I currently take 20mg. Which is freaking me out, because for the last 9 years I only took 10mg and same benifits. IE: taking 20 mow is like taking 10 in the past. I don't get it. This is true since the last episode of abilify for 5 months. Did that do something to me? I've gone as high as 50mg since abilify and now very effective. Thankfully its more effective than that now. Is it posible the pharmacy put half the dose in the 10mg size pill?

I would be afraid to take that much Zyprexa for an extended period of time. Some considerations... weight gain, increased blood sugar and possible diabetes eventually. And just think, you can't stay on it forever I wouldn't imagine. I have heard a lot of horror stories about people trying to withdraw from Zyprexa and I would imagine that the higher the dosage you are on, the harder the withdrawal would be.
That said, I am kind of being hypocritical and don't want to scare you. If the 30-40 mg is working for you, and your pdoc says it is okay , then go for it. I personally am taking a much higher dose of Klonopin than is recommended (that's where the hypocritical part comes in.
