For those of you who have been prescribed a dopaminergic agent for depression, can I ask how you got your doctor to prescribe it? Both docs I asked didnt have the experience with it and were unwilling to , but did agree I had good points about the drug.
I would most likely use it as an augmenter and im hoping that...
1. restores sexual function which its been documented to do
2. Gives back some emotions and feelings of reward/pleasure, which its been documented to do also. (this is where I feel that taking a standard ssri by itself often lacks.. atleast in my theory anyway)I printed out a list of all the studies on mirapex/requip and depression and thinking about showing them to a doc.

Probably the easiest thing to do would be to go to a doctor and tell them you have restless legs. Restless leg syndrome is treated with Mirapex.

Thats a very good idea blueberry..THANX! however, the only thing im concerned about is maybe they use a different dosing schedule with RLS than with depression?

Blueberry isn't requip for restless legs too? A guy I e-mail with is having fantastic results with low dose requip .5mg and a cocktail of some other meds too. Love Phillipa

In the past, I had gotten my P-doc to prescribe requip to me for depression. But she wrote it up to the insurance agency as being for restless legs, which made it easier to get a prescription.
Unfortunately requip didn't work for me. I found the cognitive side effects were really bad. Watch out for those. My ability to concentrate and speak became severely impaired after taking it. Since requip only stimulates D2/D3 receptors it leaves the D1 receptor in the prefrontal cortex understimulated. Understimulation of the D1 receptor is associated with negative schizophrenic symptoms (apathy, emotional blunting, poor concentration, not talking much etc.). It definitely made those symptoms worse for me. Though it can potentially decrease anhedonia and depression symptoms.
This is the end of the thread.
