Hi,
I've been taking fish oil (9 pills a day) for a several (3 or so) days now. I seem to notice the effect pretty quickly. I feel a bit calmer---more mellow. Is this possible. What has been the effect (if any) for others taking fish oil? Was the effect soon?

Hi Phillipa,
Yeah I'm taking fish oil which must be Omega 3s like you mentioned. I'm also taking lamictal 400mg., zyprexa 7.5 mg.

just curious - how long have you been on 400mg of Lamictal? (are you still seeing improvements?)
I haven't ever noticed effects from fish oil, but I still need to remember to take them. I'm sure it's possible you could have an immediate effect.

Hi chiron,
I've been taking lamictal 400 for a couple of years so effect has been pretty consistent--no changes lately.
I've tried to taper to a lower dose and noticed more suicidal thoughts & sort of anxious depression. It was then that I realized I'm doing so much better since being on it! It's really saved my life...in a way.
Are you on lamictal? How long have you been on it? Has it helped?

I've been on a low dose for about 10 months, and have over the last few months increased very slowly, just recently reaching 200. I think it is helped somewhat, if anything helping the low to very low swings.
I'm interested in people's stories because I'm really hoping it is my key. I have had so many meds make me worse. My dr is hesitant to go high, and to go very slow (per my body's poor adjustment). But I'm desperate to find improvement. Plus I also take birth control pills, which studies have shown to reduce lamictal levels up to 50%.At what point did you figure out you were at the right dose? At what dose did you feel definite improvement?
thx :)

I notices changes at a pretty low dose---maybe 50mg or so. But maybe that was just psychosomatic not sure. I noticed that it really made things seem brighter almost and more pleasant.
It's been so long ago that I don't know at what point I realized I was at the right dose. I think I just accepted the doctor's decision on what dose to ramp it up too. Later I asked him to increase it from 300 to 400 but I don't remember why.
I hope lamictal really works for you! Good luck!
This is the end of the thread.
