Nobody here experienced it or heard testimonials about it ? .. I would be very surprised if it's the case ..Is it Dr.Bob Psychobabble board ? .. the place where everything has been tried ? because if it's so I cannot believe nobody tried this easily accessible, cheap AND SAFE (Reversible) MAOI (RIMA) ....

I tried it once. It had very weird scary side effects. I didn't feel normal again for two weeks.

I tried it for a week and was feeling considerably more depressed. I can't remember the side effects because I just felt so bad on it. But, moclobemide did the same to me, only a lot faster.
Sure testimonials at websites look great and literature looks so convincing. Bottom line is you never know till you actually try it yourself. What is great for someone is poison to another.
I can't help but think if there was something strongly credible about it as an antidepressant, it would be more popular now than it is. I mean, it has been around a long time and just hasn't done anything to spark much interest.

Ok Thanks for sharing ! .. moclobemide has been very bad for me on the anxiety side and it took me a long time before I get back to myself (my normal ill state that is). So I fear Gerovital H3 could do the same as it act like moclobemide (as a RIMA) ... BOTH of your story discouraged me to try it and that may be a good thing.I'm glad your answered my post guys. Thanks.
Can I ask you if it was making you anxious ? and if it did, which kind of anxiety ? etc...

Hi Phillipa,
Here's some link that can help you understand what it is..
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerovital_H3
http://www.antiaging-systems.com/a2z/gerovital.htm
... but in resume it's a Reversible MAOI.. like moclobemide. It's a strange drug with a strange history. See the wikipedia article and you'll understand.
Hope your doing well,

I don't remember what it did to my mood. It gave me weird numbness in my head and I felt like I couldn't focus my eyes properly for a few days. And this was from one dose. So I had anxiety because I was terrified that I had poisoned myself in some way but not necessarily from the medicine itself.

Oh, goodness, is that still around, Gerovital was part marketing ploy and part a potentially dangerous combination of things -- most notably novocaine (oral).
At least several "doctors" were fined and or sentenced for practicing without a license distributing it and other even more dangerous things such as "Laetrile" (a cyanide precursor from peach pits).
As of now, it won a dubious court battle against the FDA because it is now classified as a "nutritional supplement." I suppose this discussion should be meant for alternative.

Wow.. that's a really strange coincidence because that's 1 thing Moclomebide (Manerix) did to me and it's also a RIMA like Gerovital. In my case those numbness never COMPLETELY stopped on the top of my skull.

Anyone knows if Gerovital (Oral Procaine) is more selective for one isoform of MAO ? (MAO-A or MAO-B ? Both equally ?)
Anyreference ? I'd be interested in the percentile. Moclobemide is inhibiting MAO-A @ 80% and MAO-B @ 30% ... if Gerovital does about the same, which is be way more selective for MAO-A than MAO-B then I may start thinking about trying Deprenyl (Selegeline / EMSAM) since it favors MAO-B at low dose.. and so would tweak the ration of MAO-A / MAO-B the inverse way.
Any though ?
It could be bad for my anxiety.. but who knows. I I sure low dose Selegiline + 85% cacao chocolate could feel good on me :)

That said I'm Canadian and so don't give an enzyme about it. :)

Hi Phil,
I do not intend to try Gerovital after all, even if I already ordered some. It's cheap and I don't care much. I fear it could make me feel like Moclobemide (Manerix) and I don't want to take that chance. It doesn't worth it. (2, 3 months of weird anxiety and strange sensation in my scalp since then. 3 years ago)btw, it was for depression.

My bad, eh! =) Don't you know us Americans are impatient and extremely easily distracted? I read the first few lines and then my attention was caught by a cute guy on a tv commercial for something I can't even remember. Sorry, I have to go; suddenly I have an uncontrollable urge to go use some paper towels for some reason.........Sorry for the misinformation!
Cheers!
