Hi
For the 6th or 7th time Nardil is starting to poop out on me at 90mg's (call it poop out tollerance no more stimulation what ever.) Social anxiety is worsening along with Dysthymia.
The way I see it I have 3 Choices
1: Stop then start then restart the Nardil.
2: Augment
3: Just Use what little effects the Nardil gives me after the honeymoon phase.
4 Increase dose. What do you guys reckon? Iv'e been on all the other AntiD's atleast 3 times.
Any advice much appreciated!

If you are doing ok in the side effects department, consider going as high as 120mg maybe? I only say that because other people have done that, ever since the new Nardil came out. It doesn't seem to be the same as the original nardil, something to do with faults in the way it is absorbed, so to make up for that some people take high doses.

One option would be to augment Nardil with Lithium.
Am J Psychiatry. 1988 Feb;145(2):249-50.
The combination of lithium carbonate and an MAOI in refractory depressions.
Fein S, Paz V, Rao N, LaGrassa J.
Department of Psychiatry, Brookdale Hospital Medical Center, Brooklyn, NY 11212.Lithium combined with phenelzine alleviated the symptoms of four severely depressed patients. Previously, all four patients had failed to respond to tricyclic antidepressants, and three had not responded to monoamine oxidase inhibitors.

Another augmenting option would be T3.
J Clin Psychiatry. 1988 Oct;49(10):409-10.Triiodothyronine potentiation of the antidepressant effect of phenelzine.
Joffe RT.
Department of Psychiatry, St. Michael's Hospital, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Two patients with depression that was refractory to tricyclic antidepressant therapy alone and in combination with lithium or triiodothyronine (T3) were treated with the monoamine oxidase inhibitor phenelzine. In both cases, the addition of T3 potentiated the antidepressant response to phenelzine. These observations suggest that thyroid hormone potentiation may not be specific to one class of antidepressant drugs.
