Has anyone done this on underlying meds of 900mg Lithium plus 7.5mg Remeron (nocte)? I am planning to do it early next month when I next see my pdoc. I would be grateful for any tips on what I might expect. I am doing it because I am bipolar 1 with some depression as evidenced by early awakening in my sleep pattern. I intend to keep my lithium at 900mg or does anyone think I would be able to adjust it down. Attempts to go below 900mg have in the past sent me manic and I have had to abandon the experiment and return to 900.

I would suggest changing only one thing at a time. So get stable with the Lamictal and then play around with your lithium if necessary. Being bipolar type 1 means that you probably need to stay on your lithium at that dosage, but I could be wrong (I have been before!!).

I agree with Maxime about keeping Lithium at 900mg. It's unclear whether Lamictal protects against mania, although it clearly works for preventing bipolar depression. Lithium + Lamictal is a good combo for bipolar.

whats a starting dose for lithium? Is it fast acting, or like ad's?
