I have been on Nardil 75 mg for about 4 months. Lately I started having severe memory problems. I went out to dinner with family and could barely remember that I went (about a week had passed), I found some soap in my shower and had trouble remembering how it got there (my sister gave it to me about a week prior). I also bought something at the store, returned it because I didn't need it, and then a couple of weeks later purchased it again, not remembering I had already purchased and returned it.
Does anyone else have such issues on Nardil (or any MAOI)? Do they go away? My family is quite disturbed over it. I read some articles online about this can sometimes be permanent (even after discontinuing usage) and Nardil having some suits over it.

How long have you been experiencing this?
I found that the closer I came to having Nardil kick-in, the weirder I felt. This included feeling foggy or numb and having troubles with memory. These things resolved quickly and were replaced by an antidepressant response. It MIGHT be a good sign that you are experiencing a BRIEF change in cognition and memory.

What other medications are you taking? Maybe there is an undesirable interaction between Nardil and another drug. I find that dosages of Lamictal over 200mg a day makes me feel very spacy and foggy when I take Nardil.

> Mickapooi'd think its less likely since parnate doesn't affect gaba levels. Memory formation requires NMDA activation. The combination of a gabaergic like nardil and lamotrigine (which noone is quite sure how it works, but does seem to reduce glutamate relase) is going to make memory formation that much harder, its doubling up on things.

Hi Mickapoo.Parnate is MUCH more forgiving in its interaction with Lamictal. It doesn't impair me as much as Nardil did.

Thanks for the response. You were on Nardil and then switched to Parnate? Did you experience sexual side effects on Parnate?Were there any other side effects you experienced on Parnate?
Did you find it more stimulating than Nardil?
I wonder if the same interaction happens with Parnate & Lamictal as it does with Nardil & Lamictal...

Forgot to add this. Does a certain amount of time need to lapse between ending Nardil and starting Parnate? Or does your doctor just decrease the Nardil little by little and then put you right on Parnate?Thank you!!
