Seroquel and Wellbutrin

Posted by ajax1 on January 1, 2009, at 12:29:09

Has anyone tried Seroqeul for sleep and Wellbutrin as an antidepressant? Wellbutrin is a good A/D for me but can be overactivating, hence the need for a sleeper. I would appreciate any input.

I know someone on that combination (Wellbutrin XL 300mg plus Seroquel 800mg). She sleeps well, but she might not be as prone to insomnia as you are. Lower dosages of Seroquel (25-100mg) seem to be more soporific than higher dosages (200-800mg). These two drugs probably act synergistically, as a major metabolite of Seroquel (N-Desalkylquetiapine) is a potent NE-reuptake inhibitor as well as a 5-HT1a partial agonist.

Thanks for the reply. I'm taking 12.5mg Seroquel at night and sleep well. I've taken 20mg bupropion in the AM and later in the day, as the Seroquel wears off, I get jittery. Seems I'm very sensitive. I'm basically low-energy with slight depression. I tend to become hypomanic on ADs. BP NOS diagnoses. If anyone else has similar experiences I'd like to hear them.
Thanks
