I finally got a prescription for Parnate. After a few days I started taking two and had a headache. Sure enough my blood pressure is higher than usual. I run low like around 110 over 60-65. Today it was up to 140 over something. I have some Procardia on hand and have been taking 1/4 of a tab under my tongue. I checked everything I am taking with it and i should not be having any reaction. In the past the Parnate always made my blood pressure even lower so something is very amiss.
I take Oxycontin, Valium on a regular basis. I have been taking macrobid and pyridium. Either I have a bladder infection or I cannot take the Parnate ( bladder disease). I had my urine tested yesterday so I should know soon. But my blood pressure is getting higher every day. The only other thing is a use daily instills in my bladder but I thought they were not systemic so I should not have to worry. They are Heparin, Marcaine,Triamincine and Gentamincin. I tried to look this stuff up the only one I am unsure of is Triamincine?
Anyone have any ideas?

> okyHi Oky,
Its the last one, triamincin I think its spelled. Its clearly contraindicated with any MAOI. Please keep close watch on your blood pressure and any side effects related to your medication. Do you have enough antidote? Will you post back so we know you are ok? Or if there is anything I can do? If you can do without that med, your ok. So, I geuss the good news is if you can replace that you'll be able to use Parnate. The only thing, I notice you use it for bladder, the drug I'm finding is for flu, cold, that sort of thing. Can you double check spelling please?

Triamcinolone is the correct spelling. It is a steroid usually used topically but I use it as part of a mixture I instill in my bladder.
Didn't you used to take Procardia regularly with Parnate? I cannot remember if that was you?

> okyHi oky,
Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner! No I never took Procardia, but I did take Nifedipine for 10 days following a BP problem I had. I think it was overkill but it was the only way my PDoc would let me stay on Parnate until my next visit. Nifedipine is NOT a drug I would ever take on a regular basis. I was extremely lethargic and depressed. But that's me! I never had another problem after that and its been a while.
Hope you are well,
~Jade

HI,
Nifedipine is Procardai.
Are you still on Parnate?
It did not matter in the end if it bothered my bp as I could no longer take it because it bothered my bladder.
I have not been on line for a while either.
Hope all is well with you too,
oky

Yeah if you can believe it! Seems so long ago I started posting! How are you? I hope you've been able to control the pain you were in before. Are you thinking of using another A/D? I don't remember if you mentioned another choice after Parnate. I was taking lithium with Parnate, recently but think I'm gonna reconsider. I started having some nasty side effect that didn't seem right. Have you ever taken it? any wierd side effects? Well hope you are well, get back to me and let me know whats going on, and what your plan is for A/D, etc.,
