What is the average dosage of Luvox for OCD?
Also, what is the highest dosage of Luvox you ever heard of someone taking?
I know it often takes "supratherapeutic" dosages of an SSRI like Prozac to improve OCD. For OCD, one must take one of these drugs for a much longer period of time than would be necessary to treat depression.

Ocd 100mg to 300mg. Depression 50-200mg. Starting dose 50mg with increases of 50mg if tolerated every 5-8 days. Highest suvival of an overdose was 800 or 8000mg. Highest recommended for OCD is 300mg. Here's an abstract one of many. Phillipa

250mg and it was working fine. Unfortunately the pdoc at the time wanted me on a celexa trial new med at the time so he took me off it didn't want off it as was relaxed and feeling good. It's been years been conditioned to luvox. Long story short the celexa was horrible and this was the time that chronic lyes and thyroid diagnosed. Switched pdocs and no longer could take high doses. Damn. 20/20 hindsight. In 1987, a doctor had to play with his new toy - Prozac. I had done extraordinarily well on Parnate + desipramine previously. His motivation to try something new obfuscated my history of treatment resistence. If it ain't broke... He should have put me back on the exact same drugs that worked so well for me. His decision cost me 19 years of my life. Damn.
Phillipa, do you think you have obsessive or compulsive tendencies? How do you tolerate Prozac? What was the highest dosage you tried taking?

Scott sorry so long to reply so that was what happened to you. Anyway before the luvox first ad was the l0mg of paxil with low dose xanax worked so well. Well I was drinking beer at night after work and the pdocs I worked with got wind of it and called pdoc and he put me in hospital and to justify the stay switched me to luvox. Remember when hospitals were for drug changes too? Anyway he said no you don't want to go back to work do you? I thought he was God like so said no and he put me on Disability. Scott the l0 of paxil had been working and I was working and doing very well. First thing that same pdoc did to me. So the luvox and meds worked the paxil and luvox.
Anyway a few years before another great pdoc suggested prozac only came in 20mg gel caps then and I took one didn't know psych meds at all then. Well day l wallpapered a foyer had put off for three years, day two anxiety which didn't have as only .25 of xanax worked well. Day three sheer panic attachs all day sat in fear. I flushed them down toilet. Took three days of xanax to feel normal again. When saw him he said " you had a miraculous response to prozac please take it every three days." I refused. Stayed on just low dose benzos and was fine till thyroid and lymes and the paxil, luvox. Scott cut the luvox last two nights down to 25mg as this pdoc said you don't need an ad just take benzos. At the moment am feeling that zapping feeling so could it be that my brain really needs the luvox as this is some withdrawal I believe? So my question now is should up again to 50 and maybe try to go up again as this was the original plan of this pdoc? Maybe I do need serotonin? Could you let me know your advise as have permission to take the luvox anyway I want? And as for OCD was a time I added license plates numbers, certain amount of sips of water at a time. Simple OCD stuff that was annoying and sometimes when stress is high revert back to some of that. Must admit when on the 250mg of luvox and worked I was very laid back even though I was taking ativan with it. So please help. Got intersting e-mail also today I think you know what it was. Love Phillipa going to attempt to ride my six miles on the bike zapping away.

Well fell off bike last night the zaps got me so went back to 50mg and feel faint and dizzy now and must drive can't quit not a quitter. Phillipa
