I started Deplin a few days ago and haven't noticed anything yet. It's a special form of folate that is supposed to help ADs work better. I'm wondering what to expect. I did read some archives. Is anyone here on it now? If you took in the past, why'd you stop?

Deplin produced a significant improvement in my depression after a month or so. I actually felt something good during the first week, but that response was a sort of brief blip that lasted a day or two. The main improvement occurred weeks later.
I stopped taking Deplin because I was receiving diminishing returns. After two weeks of no positive effect along with fitful sleep, I decided to stop taking it.
Looking back, I think I should have taken a fraction of a Deplin pill. Too much is probably counterproductive. One sign of overdosage might be the appearance of vivid dreams and nightmares. I wish I had thought to decrease the dosage at that time. I would probably have continued with it.

Tried low dose methylfolate - 200 mcg. It just made me agitated and sleepless.

Took it for two weeks one day of feeling better. But no agitation or difficulty in sleeping. Don't remember dreaming either. I stopped cause no money as medicaire doesn't pay for it. Love Phillipa

I stoped because it didn't work. It was expensive, and not insured. And I belive it didn't cure my folite deficiency.

I've only been on it a week now and I'm starting to notice the vivid, distressing dreams. Nothing else, though. I think I'll stick it out for at least a month. I'm willing to live with bad dreams if it helps my depression during the day.

Deplin is a fantastic med! The safety is completely unmatched. I've done an enormous amount of research and found that Deplin can't be duplicated or substituted for anything else. Has to do with the bioavailability and crossing the blood brain barrier, which Folic Acid can't do. In fact we who deal with depression might physically be dealing with it because of our bodies not being able to metabolize Folic Acid or dietary folate. For those having trouble with cost there is a website and a discount card you can print. I get mine for $46 with the card and it's worth every penny! I'm just glad it doesn't cost more!
