Just wondering if anyone has
a) had problems missing a dose of parnate - seemed to cause havoc
b) had anything like a mild hypertensive crisis from blueberries (it was a lot of blueberries) and an MAOI....Thanks

Superchicken: I am on 50mg parnate. So far I haven't had any hypertensive problems. (Yay!)
I have not missed a dose so I can't comment on that.
I have had three incidences of bad stomach ache/vomiting/diarrhea in the middle of the night. Comes on fast leaves fast. Once from too many bing cherries, once from hummus (garbanza beans I think) and once from taking the Parnate and Elavil together. Very strange. It's never happened to me before. I'm convinced all three episodes were associated with Parnate.
Maybe too much fruit of any kind is bad?
I'm still willing to hang in there with the Parnate!
Good luck!
Gayle

Interestingly, I seem to tolerate fruits much better than I used to.... Just a weird reaction mild hypertensive rxn with the blueberries.
My shrink did warn against "overripe fruit" including banana peels and banana bread....
Hummus with parnate would scare me, although i don't know why. Hummus in general scares me though =)

Hi:
Maybe the blueberries had some (or even one) moldy ones. Sometimes they are hard to spot. Can't say I've missed banana peels too much!
How are you liking the Parnate? How much do you take? How long have you been on it? Do you take other medications?
I just started Parnate May 5th, so am really curious.
I'd love to hear from you about your experience if you feel like responding!
Thanks,
Gayle

I like parnate; been on it 6 mos or so - was on Nardil before - no real difference between the two for me, excapt that I never seemed to have nardil withdrawal when I do seem to get it from parnatee (shrink disagrees I think).
Im on 40 but want to go higher. I also take benzos for anxiety and sleep.

I'm glad you're liking the Parnate. Why did you switch from the Nardil?
My major complaint is this awful fatigue I have. I don't know if it's the Parnate or the Elavil. I'm asking my pdoc to take me off the Elavil but I don't know if he will. I'll see. Does it make you tired?
What time do you take your Parnate? I have changed that around a lot to see if I'm less tired. Parnate has seemed very forgiving to me in not being on a schedule. I don't get the feeling that I would notice it if I missed a dose. But I couldn't swear to it!
Thanks,
Gayle
