> The Brain Fitness Program from Posit Science Corporation. Buy it, do it daily, it's worth the money. Scrape it together somehow if you have to. Your brain is all you have. Also, anti-psychotic meds of some sort may help. And keep off booze and drugs. THAT part is important.
Thanks susan47. I never heard of this soft. I will have a look. It is expensive.
This one is free http://brainworkshop.sourceforge.net/ I did not try it yet.
I am afraid to take an antipsychotic for this. I used a benzo.
Have you used an antipsychotic?. On special occasions only?. Please tell me more. Thanks.

Yes. I waas in hospital last year for a month on the Psych Ward (a prison if ever there is one) in a state of such high anxiety I could no longer function on almost any level. Drug-induced, unhappiness-induced, fear-induced anxiety. I don't know if I could go through that again. It is the reason Jean Rhys committed suicide (if my memory serves...another anxiety... loss of memory(ies) due to mj use.).
The Brain Fitness Program is something I bought with a subscription to Channel 9 ($350?) ...one of those times they were doing the show. I have the DVD and if you Babble me I will be happy to send it to you.. the original, not a copy. I trust you would return it temporarily if asked, and we could pass it on to others as well. I believe one of the reasons our society is so complacent about what is going on in OUR WORLD is because we have been made to feel powerless by the media, the government, the FBI the CIA the IRS you name it. Lack of money=lack of power. Period. If everybody made an effort to turn off the television, turn on the books and get this Brain Fitness Program and really work it, we would begin to understand what the world is throwing at us, and what we are gobbling up. Mindless, skull-numbing media crap babble b*llsh*t ... it's unbelievable, and we swallow it and get cancer, and mental illness, and wonder why our health programs still benefit the top 10% of humanity .. no matter what country, rich or poor, all have their corruptions ... educated and shark-like corruptions ... at their root. With money. And power. And we have given up too much control and tried to emulate them and failed, because our world is going to sh*t right inside us ... our heads have been f*ck*d with and there is a level of drug and alcohol use and apathy such as I never would have wished to witness, were I speaking from the future, in the ultimate being-ness of what Man is capable of ... great beauty, and art, and music, and philosophy ... most people are missing out on So Much. So just get the Brain Fitness Program ... and if you get a good free brain fitness-type program somewhere else, much the better. But people who are doing brain research deserve the credit to continue to develop more and better programs ... there's also a smart driving program they put out that's on my list to get, as I keep falling asleep on the highway to and from work, and there isn't a transit system good enough to take. That's another problem we aren't facing properly. Europe is studded with an excellent fast-rail system which allows people to move quickly and freely between towns, where Canada although what, six times the size, or more, can't get it together enough to lower our carbon emissions with a responsibly-built and maintained rail system? WTF?????
It's a sick, sick world man, and it's time to change the damn thing before our children and our children's children .. should there ever be any.. many people now refuse to have children because they see the way of the future Now.

nd, I really like your name. Franz. The anti-psychotics I'm on? I'm not really sure because it's been almost a year they've been prescribed and the gov't (thank you, at least you do one thing right here in Canada) has so far paid the pricey cost of my meds. I believe San-Mirtazapine is my bedtime med, 30 mg. Then there's Clonazepam (these are the generic names BTW) o.25 mg at supper. And Effexor 300 mg, which isn't an anti-psychotic as far as I know but I've been taking it for such a long time now that if I happen to miss a day, as I did recently, I can barely function at all. My brain feels like it's dissolving, it literally feels like the cells of my brain are Dissolving more and more quickly as time wears on, the longer I'm past due my dose .... and there's jello up there to the point that when I move my head in any direction, it feels like my brain hits the inside of my skull .. and if you know what the inside of the skull looks like (lots and LOTS of sharp ridges some almost razor-like, on the inside surface..it's amazing when you realize how soft the brain is, and maybe that's part of the reason it's okay, better a soft surface hitting that than a hard one... and there's a cushion of fluid and several membranes over the brain as well.. still, soccer players (and their fans) get awfully stupid, and it's been speculated that they have so many little injuries to their skulls that they've lost some ability to make good judgments...would a brain fitness-type program help them? It certainly wouldn't hurt....and so many many violent sports, football, boxing, hockey and even wrestling that makes meat out of what had once been perfectly functioning beings .. advanced Alzheimer's at an early age for example, tons of suicides, depressions, addictions, family violence .. see o.j.simpson the pig.... Quite frankly, I don't give a damn who I might offend with that one ... get an eduction... get a f*ck*ng education ... I'm sorry about the swearing. And white supremacists, and neo-Nazi's, and our own government and the neighbours, even your own neighbours have so many prejudices it becomes almost unbelievable, when you get to talk to people who have let their hair down, so to speak, ugly, ugly things get uncovered.
Man, did I ever just let MY hair down!
I'm sorry, I apologize.
Your turn!

How on earth does one take an anti-psychotic on "special occasions only"? It's a drug that one needs to take daily, unless you're taking one as a sleep med, even then I've only ever had it prescribed daily. Ativan is the only anxiety-reducing med I've ever been prescribed PRN, and quite frankly it wasn't worth a f*ck to me.

"anti-anxiety" or "anxiety-reducing" med. They're actually called anxiolytics.

Set your mind at rest. Jean Rhys died of old age.
Anna Kavan also died of natural causes.

Hi Phillipa,
I'm actually doing really well on Effexor (don't know the generic name off the top of my head but I know it's an antidepressant not an anxiolytic) and I am on a very high dose (300 mg) and I make sure I don't forget to take it.
It's caused some weight gain but I know I can work it off ... by walking.
I'm fine how are you?

Well, some writer I know of did commit suicide because she didn't think she could stand another depressive/anxious episode. I'll come up with it eventually.
Now, who said my mind WASN'T at rest, Sigismund???

Anna Kavan wouldn't set your mind at rest. I quite liked her.
Could you have been thinking of Virginia Woolf?
