ok, i guess it might by NARDIL time again for me

Posted by Michael Bell on September 8, 2009, at 20:48:08

Before I go back to Nardil, though, I just have some questions: for those who are on it (or were on it),

- how much does it help with social paranoia and hypersensitivity to rejection (aka rejection sensitivity).

- do you keep a safety pill in case hypertensive crisis starts?

- have its positive effects lasted a long time?

- is it prosocial at all?

- does it numb the emotions like SSRIs?

- is there really a difference between the australian brand, link brand, u.s. brand, etc?

I was on it before years ago, and can't remember exactly how I felt on it. Any feedback would be much appreciated. Thanks

pretty well for me. I am far less anxious in public situations when I am alone (if that's what you mean).

no. I probably should though. Accidentally taking a contraindicated med rather than eating a banned food is of greater concern to me. For example, you can't have decongestants or hayfever sprays, cold medicines and so on. I do wear a medic alert necklace though.

I'm new to Nardil and so I can't really answer that.

Yes. I find that I speak to shopkeepers, acquaintances and neighbours far more often than before.

Not really sure. I've been depressed for so long I don't think I'd recognise an emotion if it jumped up and bit me on the nose lol

no idea.

kind of spaced out, relaxed for me most of the time. I have narcolepsy from it too.

HTH.

The only question I can answer is that the Australian brand uses the old formula of Nardil and the one in the US uses the new formula. Some people report that the new formula isn't as effective as the old.

I am, unfortunately, one of those people who received absolutely no positive results from Nardil.

So, not trying to be pessimistic, just letting you know that while it works great for some people, it just won't work for others.

> do you keep a safety pill in case hypertensive crisis starts?

I never did on Nardil, but I do now that I'm on Parnate. I carry a few Nifedipine pills everywhere I go, just in case.

I was on Nardil for a whole year. Wanted to give it as long a trial as possible. I tried different doses (60mgs, 75mgs, 90mgs) and none of them made a big difference.

By the end of the first Nardil year, I was desperately looking to find a doctor who could help me to augment the Nardil because the pdoc I had back then flatly refused to do anything else for me other than send me to ECT.

I was having a hard time finding someone, and by the time my weight was high enough to get comments from people, I decided to quit Nardil. Once I quit, the weight started to come down right away..

I hope it works for you. I had all my hopes on it, and I was sad that it didn't do anything. But now I have all my hopes on Parnate and it's not disappointing so far.

For me, it help a lot.

> - do you keep a safety pill in case hypertensive crisis starts?

Yes. Nifedipine.

> - have its positive effects lasted a long time?

Yes. I've been taking it for three years.

> - is it prosocial at all?

Yes.

No way. I hated SSRI-apathy.

Don't know.

For me, it is a great med, EXCEPT for the weight gain.

That sounds optimistic. Glad to hear it.
