I have been using 10 mg of Lexapro for a few days now for depression/anxiety and I take it at bedtime but the entire next day I am so sleepy from it I hardly can function. Has anyone successfully used 5 mg instead of the standard 10-20 mg? I would like to try the 5 mg to see if it cuts down on the drowsiness. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hello Joe Crenshaw!
Welcome to Psycho-Babble. I've never taken Lexapro before, but I do take Celexa, which is similar. I take it at night too. get sleepy from my nighttime meds, but I am not sure whether or not it is from the Celexa or the Risperdal take. Hearing your story makes me think it might be both.
I think you should talk to your doctor about decreasing your dose. Some people do well with a smaller dose. It's all very individual.
Just people one person needs 10 mg to do well, doesn't mean that 5 mg wouldn't work for you.
You could always try cutting down on the dose and if it doesn't work you can go back.
