Does anyone have mild agitation on klonopin.....and how long should I wait to see if it goes way. I am on 1.5mg per day for panic and most of the day I feel fine then I get agitated and slightly anxious about 7 p.m. It does not seem to calm me down for part of the day......will this go away. I am on my 8th day of dosing right now on good ole xmas eve.
Thanks,
Gil
P.s. i used to sue xanax this was much more sedating for me but rebound was not so good.

>When do you take your Klonopin? It is not good to take it all in one dose. It works better when you split it up into 3 doses,- so you should take 0.5 mg at breakfast, lunch, & dinner. That way it will build up a steady state level in your blood stream after 3 days to a week of taking it & will work 24 hours per day with no ups in downs in mood & panic, kind of like how anti-depressants do.
(keep in mind that Klonopin is a potent anti-anxiety/panic medicine but is subtle in the sense that you don't get the incoordination, euphoria that Xanax & Ativan give you. Klonopin has a smooth & slow onset of action (60 mins) and peaks around 2 hours, & has a duration of around 12 hours with an 18-40 hour half life.
Also, be sure to buy the name brand Klonopin by Roche Labs and not generic clonazepam. Klonopin has been shown to be far superior in laboratory tests. (In fact almost all generic benzodiazepines are weaker than the name brand).

I am having a similar issue. My doctor just prescribed me Klonopin for short term use for anxiety. When I take it I feel ok at first, but as time goes on (within maybe two hours) I begin to feel more agitated and scattered. I'm on it now and I feel really uptight. This can't be a common side effect. Isn't it supposed to do the exact opposite?
Klonopin 0.5 mg as needed

Perhaps you are still having symptoms of your condition? The med shouldn't be making you feel more agitated or anxious. Talk to the doctor and maybe increase the dose? If that doesn't help I guess trying a different benzo like Lorazepam would be an option.

it could be a withdrawal effect, when the medication is low enough that you are having basline anxiety + a little withdrawal. Or just being used to the relaxation, you notice the baseline without the med more, just by way of contrast.
