Cytomel 50mg to kick-start Parnate to work again??

Posted by Elizabeth Munson on August 17, 2011, at 14:59:19

Hi, I posted earlier about how an older, powerful antipsychotic, prescribed to me by a new p-doc, seemed to 'block' my brain so that my 60mg. parnate which I have taken with excellent results for the past five years now does nothing. I have been waiting since May for the parnate to resume acting but the depression, anxiety and darkness are becoming unbearable. My family doctor gave me 50mg of cytomel in the hopes of breaking through and getting the parnate to work once again. Any comments on cytomel good or bad as a augmentation for anti-d burn out?? lila

I wish I could help. I took cytomel to try and reverse the metabolic changes from abilify. Didn't help. Needed to monitor BP. Never heard of it being prescribed to augment a psychotropic drug, but I don't know that much. Maybe Scott can help.

Why so high a dose I was only given 5mcg of cytomel for thyroid treatment and it's like coffee jitters. Say only lasts a few hours? Phillipa

Hi, I made a mistake when I said I was taking 50mg. to augment the Parnate. It actually is 50mcg. taken every morning with 60mg. Parnate. The cytomel has helped in many ways but the Parnate is still not working. After being on it for 5 years I know how it feels when it is working. So I am still basically depressed, sad and nervous. The cytomel has gotten some life out of me so I am functional but I am hypersomic and don't know if it's depression or the Cytomel. Luckily I am not working and I find I can sleep every day until noon. I have a restful sleep and don't wake up during the night but I hate sleeping so late but I just can't seem to shake myself awake. Also this is a sympton of depression because I think 'why bother getting up' when I feel so lost and down. Seeing my family doctor this week who is great and dropping the new p-doc who messed everything up for me in the first place. Think I will try moclobomide?? known in Canada as Mannerix I think. I would go back to Nardil but in the past I gained a lot of weight on Nardil and craved carbos constantly. As an aside both the nardil and the parnate made my hair curly but now the parnate is not working my hair is straight again. Anyone else find this? All comments and help most appreciated.....e
