Yesterday we took the long drive 8 hours total to pdoc to find out from the office girls that her practice closing and she giving appointments to people for six months and she will not be there then locked doors. Now we asked her she's 75 going to leave get married leave the state and has no referrals for me or anyone. I tried for over a year to find a benzo friendly doc here that took medicaire also have united medicaire gap for extra coverage and none here. After 41 years on low dose benzos what do I do as shortage anyway of pdocs here and is what she's doing legal. Not that it will change a thing girls also said she's destroying patient charts before she leaves. I've been tryint to hold on for years now. So what should I do. Report and what happens nothing as doesn't solve my problem. I have no idea what to do? Cold turkey age 65 and it's bye bye. Thanks Phillipa

Don't you have a legal right to your records? Can you get a form to have them released to you quickly?
I have no advice on the other issues. Seems very irresponsible.

Phillipa, the destruction of records sounds illegal. Do what you can to get yours.
She's paid through Medicare? Call them. They are strict, and she could be putting herself in hot water.
And hey. Those records belong to you. They are yours and you need them.
She sounds like she's flipping out to me.

Would your GP/internist be willing to continue to prescribe your meds?
If not, contact the states medical board for advice.

That's what hoping to be able to find how to report this to North Carolina Board of Physicians? Phillipa if you find a link to somewhere would you let me know? You seem like a good knowledgeable person if if not familiar with our country Australia right?

I'm sorry about what has happened to you-- we can all agree that was an awful thing for a doctor to do. I can't give much advice besides that there are pdocs out there who can help you with your situation, although I understand that you've taken much effort in trying to find one already in what I imagine has been a tiresome and difficult endeavor.
When I switched psychiatrists after I moved home from college, it took a few doctors before I found one that would really listen to my past experiences and prescribe Xanax or stimulants. Even providing just a small bit of proof, like a prescription bottle, can show the pdoc that you have indeed taken benzos before.
I was lucky in that my sister-in-law was a nurse and recommended me to a young pdoc who was very smart and open to ideas. Trusted recommendations can be helpful

Thanks it's the insurance that is the problem as the pdocs don't want or take medicaire. And contacted state medical board seems that if 30 days notice given it's fine. They don't have to find a replacement for their patients. By the way I retracted my complaint as got a notification that the doc would be given my name and complaint which is doesn't show on about given link they send an email with this info right after send. Not fair. Phillipa

With the help of a pdoc I once saw here he had his secretary call with the names of two docs. One have an Oct appointment with and take medicaire. As my husband went to this docs office yesterday and asked him to take me back but not accepting medicaire. He was visible and they had a face to face conversation. He said he would put on his thinking cap and see who he could think of to recommend. Foolishly I left this doc after he withdrew me from the luvox and didn't do it slowly so didn't sleep for two weeks ended up in ER gave high doses of benzos nothing. So I got scared and left. Anyway got to google these two names and see what these men seem like. Phillipa

Can't you go through your insurance company and get a list of doctors that accept it and new patients. Most insurance does that. Thats how got my doctor who accepts medicare. Maybe find a doc that way, then call them to see if they are willing to prescribe valium. Are there realy no docs where you are?

Cash only ones the good ones. Real insurance not medicaire the others. Did get the two referrals from the other pdoc that is here. And we ate at McDonald's off the Tnpke where you live on way home from old pdoc. I thought of you right away. Phillipa
