Hi All,
Anyone ever experience involuntary bite reflex on Abilify? It only happens when I am drifting off to sleep (so I wasn't remembering that it happened). I will bite down, and maybe a third of the time I bite my tongue. I haven't hurt myself yet, but one imagines I could.
I take Wellbutrin, Cymbalta, Abilify, Ativan, Klonopin, and now Cogentin too. I figure this has to be from the Abilify, right? Do I need to discontinue Abilify due to this? Any advice appreciated!

Ive seen this in someone who was on pain medication, thats about it.
I get jaw clenching from certain SSRIs, but thats probably a little diffferent.
Does benadryl do anything for it? Doesnt sound like EPS since it only happens as you go to sleep.
Sort of reminds me of the RLS I get just as I drift off to sleep. That seems to respond to l-dopa supplements.

What is this jaw clenching seems a great deal of others also speak of it? Haven't experienced it myself. Phillipa

Haven't tried Benadryl. Just recently started Cogentin for Abilify-produced akathisia, hopefully that will help. It's not really jaw clenching, it's more like a single involuntary bite-down reflex - it's always singular because it always wakes me up. It's pretty freaky, really.

For me it's a single bite reflex that occurs just as I'm drifting off to sleep.
This is the end of the thread.
