xyrem i think is a new chloral hydrate type drug, ive taken chloral hydrate and liked it i just wondered if xyrem is a realistic option for me and if its terribly addictive? anyone hooked on it? i got hooked on restoril so i dont want anything thats gonna make me an addict

I think xyrem is GHB. Its approved for narcolepsy. I have no idea if docs can (or do) use it for other problems. I think it would increase your level of sedation. I believe its a schedule III drug, not a schedule IV like the benzos. Also, its expensive, and the benzos are cheap.

I took chloral hydrate for years and boy it knocked me out and got restful sleep. Later was told it's like alchohol. Do they still use it? Phillipa

chloral hydrate... i know they still use it cause they gave it to me in a state institution but it would probably b hard to get your doctor to perscribe it, most doctors consider it overkill, but boy does it feel good, i had the most relaxing dream of my life on chloral
