need info on medicare/ medicaid

Posted by torrid2 on January 5, 2012, at 9:42:24

I found out that if I work I'll loose my medicaid but still have medicare, I have medicare primary insurence and medicaid secondary. What will happen to my medicare part D drug coverage? I think I'd keep the coverage but have to start paying my monthly priemiums for both medicare and the part D. If anyone has come across this situation please tell me about your experience.

One more cost of living increase in my SSD income and I'll loose my medicaid anyway so I think it's a good idea for me to go ahead and work but I want to know what to expect at the pharmacy. I'm bet there is a yearly deductable too.

I think not sure you can earn up to $700 a month on medicaire. Why would you want to lose your med coverage? Phillipa. I'd say go to the government site to answer your questions. Phillipa

I'd loose my medicaid wich is my secondary insurence to medicare. I'd have to start paying yearly deductables for medical and drug coverage, monthly premiums for medicare and medicare part D and 20% copays for doctor visits. Curently medicaid pays those costs. What I'm wondering about if is my part D medicare drug coverage would be effected when I loose medicaid other then the yearly deductables and monthly premiums.

I think don't know for sure as such an important question that medicaid is for the poor as a generalization or those without other means of money to live, Medicaire is for disability and retirement. I think separtate. I think the website is medicaire.gov? Or just google it will show up? Phillipa

that's correct. I get both medicare from my SSD and medicaid because my SSD benifit puts me under the poverty line. On SSD you can get medcaid at 120% below the poverty line and medicaid pays your monthly medicare premium and your yearly deductable and doctor visit copays. It's a very big deal for me but I'm right at the 120% line. I think I'll still get my drug coverage when I work and loose medicaid. I hoped someone had experienced this situation. I kinda kmow I'm not going to loose my drug coverage but I'm so nervous about it.
