How do I avoid mania on two ADs?

Posted by phidippus on January 16, 2012, at 20:37:02

ADHD/BIPOLAR/OCD...That's me. I take Vyvanse for my ADHD, which also helps treat my OCD. To treat my Bipolar disorder I take Lithium. To treat my OCD I take Viibryd and just now started Mirtazapine. To help keep my mood stable and augment my OCD treatment, I take Latuda.

I am very happy with all my meds, but the Viibryd is a little weak, so my pdoc and I have decided to add Mirtazapine. I am very concerned about becoming manic and wonder if anyone out there has any ideas?

Increase my Latuda?
Add another mood stabilizer?

Here are my meds:

Lithium 1200 mg
Viibryd 40 mg
Mirtazapine 30 mg
Vyvanse 60 mg
Latuda 80 mg
Ativan PRN
Dilaudid PRN

Thanks!

Eric

someone in my family takes dilaudid for severe pain in her bloodvessels or like they shrink up. Still that would be nice to have Dilaudid and Ativan. Right now my goal is to get back on a real stimulant. I'm on Nuvigel 150mg but it lacks the psychomotor stimulation that amphetamines have....it wakes you up and maybe lifts your mood but it is definetly not a "psychostimulant".

It's gonna be long time before I am well taken care of.

sorry about the question I dint get to it quick enough buy no...the lithium and the Latuda should keep you from having a manic episode. I take Zyprexa 20mgs and I hate it.

Remeron is used many times with SSRI's and it has no counteracting effects. It's a good med. Viibryd I have no idea about its properties but I do know its SSRI so I think your safe from going manic. The mood stablizers your on are pretty potent and they should take of imbalances. You could always add Deplin, it increases the effects of antidepressants. I would say Topamax but its got side effects that are unpleasant.

You should try some Nuerontin. It's for anxiety, and it helps alot of things besides pain relief too.

Dilaudid is for my neuralgia and it also helps with the OCD.

it all depends on the shrink and you explaining your problem. There are some doctors that are very generous, especially here in texas.

Plan a speech. Know what to say, and how to convey a point. Some doctors are not nice...espcially the one I have, I had to beg her thought phonecalls of distress to even consider wellbutrin, and then Nuvigel and then only to find out they don't work. I loathe alot of things... anyways
Rerember Ame Sans Vie?? the barbituates he was on was scary. I don't know what happened to him....

My docs are very progressive and they know I'm not a drug seeker.
