I finally saw my Pdoc today and told her about my heart arrhythmia and she said she couldn't give me any of the AAPs.
I told her my regular MD wanted me off Geodon as well.
She wants me to try 200mg of Tegretol at bedtime for 3 days, then 200mg 2x a day for 2 weeks then get bloodwork done and go back to see her.
It's cheap and generic! That is a plus.
I wonder if it will help with the depression. She seemed to think it would. We'll see.
I'm glad I saw her because I just didn't want to go back to the issues I had with Lithium (constant salty taste, weight gain, face breakouts, etc.)
Anyone good on Tegretol? Does it help with depression? Help with sleep?

Took trileptal at one time as an add on to an ad but you say you can't take ad's. Is this the only med you will be on? Phillipa

For now she just wants me to stay on klonopin and tegretol. She thinks tegretol could help with my depression.
Last week when I stopped geodon I was fine for 3 days then I started getting depressed. Maybe tegretol will help with that.

I can't take lamictal. I got really bad side effects from it. So far I have big hopes for tegretol. We'll see.
Any thoughts?

I am on trileptal, which is basically tegretol plus an oxygen (I think?). It has worked well to reduce bad depression, but I'm also on Zoloft.

Don't expect any breakthroughs with your depression. It'll keep you nice and calm, though.
