The only thing I could possibly think of was adding a drug that would boost noradrenalin and dopamine, such as Welbutrin, though I think you have tried that in the past without sucsess?

I would strongly suggest you consider going for assessment and treatment at a specialist center, for examply the Meninger Clinic

thanks jono...really

but no responded and then there's posters that post similar stuff and get loads of insight amd discussion but the only thing I have put with is out of the blue accusations and critism that had nothing to do with the point of my post. Ugh...well if I post to vote obama...then someone else post to vote Romney...

Seriously RJ, I would look at Menninger, the doctors there are the experst the experts go to, they might have somthing to offer you that your current doc hasnt thought of.

What exactly is your diagnosis, and what symptoms do you have buddy?

I think all of your symptoms can be explained by major depressive disorder as it often presents in young people. Young people with MDD exhibit anger and irritability as symptoms. It is possible that you also have ADHD inattentive type. However, the difficulties you have with slow thoughts is also a symptom of MDD.

For now, I would treat your condition as uncomplicated treatment-resistant MDD and work with your doctor to develop therapies with this diagnosis in mind. If you do indeed have comorbid ADHD, I would go to an expert who treates ADHD for a definite diagnosis. Your doctors should then be better prepared to develop a treatment plan for you. In order to make progress towards achieving remission, I think it is critical that you work with your doctor to follow the plan. If you and your doctor get "stuck" and run out of ideas, you might think to go for a consultation for ADHD. Then, consult with doctors who specialize in TRD. It usually doesn't hurt to get second opinions. These consultants should communicate with your doctor and help him make adjustments in your treatment plan.

Cognitive impairments tend to worsen over time when chronic depression remains unresolved. Slowed thinking is a very common symptom of depression. One's functional IQ deteriorates, even though intellectual potential can remain intact, although buried and inaccessible. At some point, though, I believe these capacities suffer as the brain deteriorates during extended periods spent in the depressive state. Thankfully, when treatment is successful, the brain seems to regain the lost tissue volume associated with severe depression.

For some people, there is a general lack of mental energy. This can cause one's life to become disorganized. The cognitive function to organize is there, but not acted upon. With ADHD, disturbances in cognitive function impairs one's ability to organize despite there being enough mental energy to act.

Are you looking for people here to prescribe drugs to you?

At this point, I think it is time for you to obtain consultations and second opinions with the goal of having these consultants report to your doctor their findings so that everyone is on the same page.

I think you should get off the zyprexa if you can without consequences. Are you already at a lower dose, or are you going cold turky?
