A it of light relief

This is a real advery from a medical journal dated 1970 - can you imagine a drug firm getting away with this now?

Although you wouldn't get away with that now there is something very interesting about the tone of old adds like this.....

They tend to link the manifestation to a 'real' cause rather than just summing it up to neurochemical imbalance.

Perhaps this really is the source of the patient's anxiety!

Good point so go back to anxiety sounds less severe and somehow common and reassuring. Guess that is how I felt back in 70's when started valium. Just took it didn't give it a thought and went about life and felt great quickly. I mean afterall a pill is like an antibiotic it fixes things quickly. And bingo it's gone. Phillipa

Xanax and Valium worked for me in the same way a couple of headache pills do - you'd take them, then in half an hour, you'd just notice that you were better..... no side effects, no drowsiness, no high, no buzz, just the anxiety is gone

Jono 40 some odd years later it doesn't do this just makes me tired take at bedtime only. Do you think if I just cross tappered to ativan instead of 7.5mg of valium & .5mg of xanax. It would work like the old days? Phillipa

You can only try Phillips - its pretty obvious that benzos for you are replacing somthing thats missing in your brain, 4 decause of low dose use with no dependency problems etc.

Given your age and the fact that you're on Luvox a switch to Ativan 1mg twice a day might be sensible. if it doesnt work out, you can always switch back.
