Parnate: Blunts mood or Brightens mood?

Posted by Trevpr on September 27, 2012, at 12:49:07

From anecdotal reports it seems to be a 50-50 percent chance for Parnate blunting mood and it helping amplify emotional responsivity/mood brightening. What do you all think?

Does it amplify or attenuate emotions?
Does it give energy or create tiredness?
Does it boost or blunt libido/orgasm?

It seems to just affect everyone differently, so I'm confused as to what to expect. Is it really more powerful/noticeable than other drugs? I really haven't noticed any difference on tricyclics, wellbutrin, effexor, abilify, etc.

Also I tried googling around but couldn't find much literature on augmenting Parnate with other drugs such as lithium, stimulants, or NRIs.

I guess the only way to find out is to try it and see how it effects you personaly, how it affects SLS or me or the woman next door doesnt realy help you much

Combining an MAOI with an NARI (usualy a tricyclic) used to be quite common in resistant cases

If you need some help on this, I'd encourage you to have a Skype consult with Dr Ken Gillman of psychotropical.com, he is a well known Australian psychiatrist who firmly beleives in pushing the envelope to get the patient better, not just gwet them improved.

The guy is briliant, and he might have somthing to offer you, his service is free (though you might want to make a small donation to his website) - I would realy encourage you to give him a try. He is especialy knowelegable about MAOI's and combining them with other agents to enhance response, I think he even has documents you can take to your psych to help them make their decison

Best of luck from down under!

I seem to recall reading that amphetamines can be added to MAOI treatment. I imagine that was more of 1960s thing.
