Hi...I am still noting a "bit" of improvement from Nardil, depression wise; anxiety is completely gone...but I'm getting impatient with this slow titration. I'm suuposed to wait til next tuesday before I up the dose to bid, ie, 30mg/day. I am having absolutely no problems with it or with the Nortryptiline. BP and HR are perfectly fine. I am really tempted to increase the dose today, ie to take another 15mg tab tonight. I am positive there would be no advrese effects, and I'd really like to feel better for the weekend. I know I'm considering being a rebel, but part of me thinks this titration is too slow, though I know my pdoc made it this way b/c he is a bit worried about adding a TCA to an MAOI. The first time I was put on Nardil my dose was increased by 15mg every day with no adverse effects whatsoever.
I know I'm being impatient, but I guess I wondered what you all thought. I have a feeling you'll all tell me to be a good girl and wait til Tuesday, but it's so damn hard to do that. I've been depressed so long I want to feel better much sooner than later. Any advice appreciated.
Thanks,
Kat

Been there, done that...I would feel somehow foolish were I to encourage you to deviate from your doctor's instructions. However, I agree with your conclusions.
I wouldn't tell on you.

>Scott, I wish you had Babblemail, but since you don't, I won't tell you the decision I made and the action I've taken b/c I wouldn''t want to compromise your position. ;)

Straight up, take the titration slow on the MAOI.
Not because it's dangerous but just because MAOI's seem to REALLY work at JUST the RIGHT LEVEL. So if you go up 15 mg past the level that you should stop at, it could worsen your depression like mine did.I would really take it slow with Nardil. I'm not sure if you did Nardil solo but if you did, you should know what your optimal point is and should've tested the levels each for 8-10 weeks. MAOI's work slow to stabilize. They take effect quickly, but the effect stops for a bit and then goes again.
If you haven't done monotherapy with Nardil I'm not sure why you're on nortryp with it. And if you have done it before and know your level, I would just go up to your standard dose, unless if it's 75 mg or higher.

I tend to think your doc is going a bit slow as well, waiting a week to go from 15 to 30.
I wont tell you to go against your doctors orders, but I would have been aiming for 45mg of nardil and 75mg of Nortriptyline by the end of week 1 my self
