Hey guys,
I have been Escitalopram 10mg for about 12 weeks. Mostly for anxiety and i would say mild depression. This is my first time taking anything like this so I am very new to it. My doc gave 1mg of Klonopin to take as needed which i do on occasion. My question is, I drank a moderate amount on New Years eve, knowing that the alcohol hits me me much harder than normal on this med. Since tues morning I have been very anxious. Not full blown attacks but just an uncomfotable feeling that comes and goes all day. I have taken the klonopin at night and it usually knocks it right out, but its not this time. Is it the drinking that has cause me to feel anxious and my meds not to work as well?? Thanks for all your help.

Yes. It definitely can increase depression and anxiety. It's a CNS depressant.
Do the majority of people on meds still do it? Yes. And other drugs too. When you feel better try the experiment again. If the same thing happens you'll have your answer.

Thanks, how long does the increase in anxiety normally last? A few days? A week? Thanks for your help

With mild depression I would think fresh air, exercise etc would help a lot. Try not to fret too much(easier said than done)it should be a short term thing.
Never know, the Escitalopram could be causing it.
I was in much worse shape than you but drinking really hammered me with depression and anxiety. I may drink 2 beers a year now. LOL Boring.

its the alcohol withdrawl...if you drink moderate-heavy...the withdrawl effects the next day...i used to drink half a bottle of a 16oz of JackD. after my vyvanse wore off and i felt like sh*t...then i would pass out and have shakes in the morning, it was brutal.... It's alcohol withdrawl...just limit the stuff to low....
I just know that klonopin can make people depressed...i read that here on babble, and in medical articles...it does something to serotonin...reduces it or something, could ask the doctor maybe 1mg of ativan? its less mindclouding than klono...well for me.
there's this stuff called kava....its at healthfood stores, its better than alcohol, vary calming, less side effects.
This is the end of the thread.
