Hi,
Been on Remeron (Mirtazapine) 7.5mg with a bit of luck for the past couple weeks, but still very depressed and anxious. When I try to raise it I eat everything in sight all day long and sleep 12+ hours. Plus I get irritable leg syndrome at night. Not cool.
My miracle med in the past was zoloft, but lost its effectiveness a few years back but going to try it again tonight. I'm thinking 7.5 mg Remeron to sleep plus the Zoloft and maybe I'll feel normal again. Anyone taken remeron and zoloft at the same time?
What was your experience? Did it work? Side effects? Good effects?Much love, thanks!

Hi, I had great luck with 25mg of zoloft and 7.5mg remeron, also added .5mg klonopin. I took all in one dose at night for 2 1/2 yrs. Emotionally, I did really well on this combo. However, I did gain 30lbs,and my cholestrol inscreased. But Ive never slept better! When I tried to raise the remeron,I had a paradoxil reaction, and restless legs at night,so I stayed low. I tapered the zoloft, remeron to lose weight.I did lose it,and have found just the .5mg klonopin works. Ive been diagnosed with gad, panic, and mdd. Good luck!

If remeron is too sedating and causes too much increase in apatite, a reasonable alternative would be zoloft in the morning and nortriptyline 75mg at night.
After a few weeks on the nortriptyline, it would be a good idea to get a blood test and ensure that your blood levels are in the theraputic range

gadchik - did you mean pmdd?
jono_in_adelaide - I'm interested in the tricyclics because of this new sensitivity I have to SSRIs. Have you taken Nortryptaline? What was that like, did it work? Thanks.

Yes I have, and yes it did.
A little drowsiness for the first few days (I started on 75mg at night though, starting at 25mg and building upto 75mg over 7 days should reduce drowsiness)
it helped depression and anxiety and was easy to tolorate

P, Im pretty strict with my k. I do sometimes go to .75mg around then. But alot of the times, if i up it one day, then the next day i take less. i will sometimes lower my k, and add a crumb of remeron, that knocks me out if I only do it occasionally:)

Well I took Zoloft first day today, 25 mg., and I can already say that I feel a lift. Celexa and Prozac both gave me panic first day, but no panic so far with the Zoloft. Looks like Zoloft is the drug that agrees with my system. I must say that these drugs are quite powerful. I am med sensitive and I feel better already. But I am going to be extremely cautious and stay on a low dose.
Still have a crazy appetite, I am going to try to go down on the Remeron as much as possible. I'm just too hungry. I will try as jono did, to take a crumb, just enough to sleep.
thanks

I'd say youre on the right track. I did taper remeron first, before zoloft, but I would use it sparingly to help with a deep sleep, and still do. 25mg zoloft worked fine for me,and I felt better quickly too, after starting it.But I was also on klonopin. I hope you can keep the dose low as well.:)
