Parnate Side effects???

Posted by Roslynn on March 4, 2013, at 16:00:43

Hi,

I have been on Parnate since Feb 1...still feeling dizzy, stomach problems and forgetfulness. Does anyone know if these side effects will disappear with time?? (Like a few weeks not 6 months?)

Also, I see my pdoc soon and he is probably going to want to increase the dose (I'm at 20mg right now)...is that just going to make the side effects worse? Or do the side effects clear once you hit a certain dose?

Thank you for any help from those who have experience with this drug.

Roslynn

Hello Roslynn,

Hope you're feeling alright.

Never been on Parnate, but based on my Nardil experience, side effects will indeed increase with dosage. Nardil side effects slowly reduced to tolerable levels over the course of three months. The first two months were particularly bad, but well worth it in my experience.

Parnate dizziness is probably orthostatic hypotension. With proper diet (eat some salt!) you'll feel better over time. It used to be that walking around put me in a daze, then it turned into a feeling that I could shake off -- or get rid of with a quick slap to the face.
