I spent about 4-5 months on Abilify (up to 2.5 mgs) to augment my low dose Celexa and "stabilize" me a little.
It helped with my sexual avoidance problems and the scattered racy feeling I usually have in my brain, and I was less likely to consider suicide.
But it also got in the way of exercise/muscle strength and made me bored with everyone. It affected my sleep and tampted down overall vitality.
when I stopped completely I had a week of happy bright feelings (and raciness) followed by pretty intense depression, despite adding 5mgs of celexa.
Has anyone experienced this? I hope it goes away. I was thinking about replacing Abilify with Seroquel to help with the sexual avoidance and self-possession but I don't know if I should expect the same flatness and strength issues.
any thoughts??
thanks!

It goes away. It takes longer than when you were on the abilify.

Wait, so you're saying I'm going to be fighting this depression for more than four months??? Is this a documented fact and/or your personal experience?
I'm a little upset that no one told me of this before starting down this road.
Might the seroquel help?

It seems that we are in the same "boat". I stopped taking Abilify for about a week now. I took 2.5 mg/d for several month after we went down from 10 mg/d. Now I feel depressed (sadness) I and have problems to concentrate. I am bipolar II and the mood stabilizers Lamictal, Lithium and Trileptal. How long are the withdrawal symptoms will go on? i also experience nausea. Is it a relapse or is this a real withdrawal? I nee some help but no one seems to reply on my posting above.

NO I was saying that abilify's effects take that long to wear off.
This is the end of the thread.
