low voltage....lethargic....plx read

i know i've been posting annoying posts about over obessesing about my life, but listen this is the only time i can get out of this horrible state of depression, i drink coffee lots of it, nothing, energy drink just only small effect, my whole body is lethargic in the functions, it doenst respond to medications, and now energy drinks, its like its at this same depressed state of equilibrium with anything i put in my body.....so really i've got to do sometihng, i know the ECT treatment is extreme and i've read people have memory problems after it, but if the shock therapy can increase and reboot the brain functions, but i just don't know how to do discuss this with my doctor....my psychologist told me of low brain voltage, but said the ECT therapy is only a jump start plug...its not continuous, so i just cannot believe this crap happened after years of feeling hopeless, the body slows down and becomes lethargic....and ... yea that's all i have to say

is there any other way besides shock, that it can increase the functions of the brain from slow state? do not tell me amphetamines, and other stimulants, there not an option

anything would be good...

I hate to sound trite but have you had a real physical CBC and lab tests done? My psychiatrist of 7 years has never requested any blood work to make sure I'm physically sound. I have gone from doctor to doctor, finally demanding a full blood panel of anything they could think of. Results were low ferritin levels, low bilirubin?, MTHFR mutation, low progesterone levels (49 yr old female). Anything that alters our biochemical natural rhythm can mess us up. Fatigue especially, the extreme kind, can be a symptom of something else. I have found that when we suffer from depression for so long we forget to focus on the rest of our body. It took over a year of taking Vyvanse, Adderall just to see it lose its punch, to realize that the fatigue was not only caused by depression. I had to have an iv iron transfusion, and I am now eating healthier, laying of the almost daily glass of wine and taking Deplin among other supplements. And now, I can go a couple of days without taking Vyvanse. To me this is such an improvement from a month ago when I literally thought I was dying. Depression is one of the worst diseases in the world because it sucks your soul, I say lets make depression's life miserable by having an optimally healthy body and making it a very inhospitable place to visit. No GMO's, no gluten (which has been touted as "the tobacco" of the last 50 years)no alcohol, and least amount of prescription drugs possible. And as for ECT, if all else fails, why the hell not.
"Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." - Albert Einstein

Best of luck and please, keep us posted.

I had no memory loss or cognitive difficulties after 11 rounds of bilateral shock treatments.

I might just be lucky or perhaps it was the facility I had the ECT? Either way, I still felt really exhausted after each treatment and a bit slow like as if you had the flu for the rest of the day, but that's about it. I really did not like the IV or anesthesia - honestly I hated that about the treatments the most. The first treatment made me feel sick, but after the first treatment, none of the others made me feel sick.

After two of the treatments I woke up before sensation had returned to my body - so in other words, I woke up and my entire body was numb and I was a bit confused (usually the confusion lasts less than a minute for me). I thought that I was dead so I screamed at the top of my lungs both times.

I can still remember everything about the treatments and even conversations I had before going under and what it was like right before being knocked out. I remember what happened after waking up, what I did when I got home, etc. My memory appears to have been unaffected...

This low-voltage thing sounds like gobbedly-g**k. Maybe you need a new therapist. You're depressed and drugs aren't working. Try CBT with a good, competent therapist. ECT is a last resort. It sometimes has an effect, but the effect doesn't last and the actual experience of it is overwhelming. Thrice a week under general anathema, wake up completly disoriented and stay that way for hours. Need to be either hospitalized or have someone who can pick you up at the hospital and stay with you for most of the day, three days a week.

My memory was killed by bilateral ECT. I would wake up from the anathesia and not know where I was or who anyone on the ward was, including my doctor and social worker, with whom I met every day. I couldn't remember that people had visited me. I didn't remember a family conference with my husband and daughter. For a month afterward, I couldn't recall people's names who I knew well, couldn't recall street names, how to get places, where stores were located. I was just happy that my memory (for everything except what happened during those three weeks in the hospital) came back. It took about a month.

yea....that sounds good, i think there's diffrent ECT treatments....that does sound good, but right the doctor i don't think would approve of it, even with the evidence to get it done.....its hard to work with them, but the shock is extreme....but from reading here there's alot of people that have got it done....

thanks for the post

my psychologist is helping some, but we talk about more of spiritual issues but he does help me with what my struggles are but i can't always apply the self improvement steps because litterly i get so depressed i don't want to think, do anything...

i usally drink energy drinks, and coffee at times, but sometimes like i said it has no effect

but did the ECT benefit, like did it increase the mood, stablize to where you could function ok? but yes also the memory/cognitive impairment does sound bad....but what happened after you had it again? like depression wise, improvement?

Maybe add anouther AP? Like perphenazine. Thats what I'm taking. I'm not sure what exactly the P is doing. But in the past it helped me to take less Z.

yea that could be good....the only problem is the doctor is selective, i've asked her about parnate and other stuff people here on babble have told me about, saying there outdated drugs....

thorazine would be a good try.....or Stelezine....heavy antipsychotics, not meaning that its bad, but it would block all this inner tension of chaos.....can't take benzos, so really a heavy AP would be a good try yet im already on the z's....30mg and up on zyprexa makes me jerk and do involentary movements....cant really add to it....

thanks fr the suggestion:)
