It began with amitriptyline. Distended abdomen that you can thump like a watermelon. LOL
some is fat but what's the rest of it. i have what looks like a pregnancy in progress.

could be a food allergy type thing, too. perhaps triggered by the medication.
some people find wheat affects them like that. wheat belly...
some people find dairy affects them like that.
some people find gluten affects them like that. pray it isn't the last because that one is a pain in the *ss.
only way to find out is to eliminate one of the above and take a week or so to see if the situation improves.
could also be (at least partly) postural. if your activity patterns have changed. if you do a lot of lying about or sitting (as i do) then i lose resting tonality in my core... abdominal spillage, basically... muscles that are supposed to cradle / support internal organs safely away... relax and everything hangs out / over...

OK. btw, this is a huge topic online. i stopped amitriptyline a few times way back when. it went away in weeks or less. got back on it poof. other meds too. great ideas, thanks.

yes.
it could be that the medication is causing the bloating by way of one of those mechanisms, though. the medication might make you more sensitive to one or more of those.
like how chlorpromazine doesn't cause sunburn, but chlorpromazine will surely interact with more modest than usual amounts of sunlight to produce it.
